The In-between

You can find me in the spaces in-between—the pauses, the contradictions, the liminal places where binaries blur. The world loves certainty, but I have never been just one thing. I have always moved between worlds, between identities, between ways of being. Floating, shifting, belonging everywhere and nowhere all at once.

You can find me in the spaces in-between

The pauses between words.

The identities between worlds.

You can find me drifting between groups. Like a honey bee floating from flower to flower - nourished by each, leaving behind a faint trail of pollen wherever she goes.

The space in between isn't for everyone.  As humans we like certainty. Clarity. Straight forwardness. Are you in or are you out? Are good or are you bad? Are you with us or are you against us?  Are you an Introvert or an extrovert? Are you male or are you female? Are you quiet or are you loud? Are you shy or are you a snob? Are you well or are you ill? Are you for or are you against? Are you kind or are you a bitch? Are you a slut or are you a prude? Are you gay or are you straight? Are you Indigenous or are you White? Are you oppressed or are you privileged? Are you one of us or one of them? Are you dangerous or are you safe?

And the answer is….

I AM.

I am good and I am bad.

I am with you and I am against you.

I am darkness and I am light.

I am an introvert and I am an extrovert.

I am male and I am female.

I am quiet and I am loud.

I am shy and I am snob.

I am well and I am ill.

I am for and I am against.

I am kind and I am a bitch.

I am a slut and I am a prude.

I am gay and I am straight.

I am Indigenous and I am White.

I am the oppressed and I am privileged.

I am one of you and I am one of them.

I am dangerous and I am safe.

I AM.

I am everything and I am nothing.

I am human and I am nature

I am darkness and I am light.

I am chaos and I am stillness.

I am everything you think I am, and none of it at all.

You can find me in the spaces in between

Living in the in-between isn’t always easy, but it’s where I feel most at home. It’s where truth lives, where transformation happens, where we are free to be all that we are—without apology. If you, too, have been asked to shrink yourself to fit into neat little boxes, know that you don’t have to. You are allowed to take up space. You are allowed to be everything and nothing, all at once.

With Love
